Mooncake boxes, built around your piece count

A mooncake box has to be designed around the actual pastry rather than bought off the shelf, because every recipe differs in diameter and height. We form the box from rigid board and build a compartment tray sized to your product.

The most requested layouts are 4, 6, and 8 pieces. Where a more luxurious presentation is wanted, a two-layer build works well: pastries on the upper tray, tea or an extra gift below.

Trays and how the pieces sit

The tray decides whether the opened box reads as orderly. Two options:

• Paper trays — die-cut and formed into compartments, keeping the whole box in paper. Suits brands that talk about their material choices.
• EVA foam — grooved to the pastry profile for a tighter hold. Better for delicate surfaces or pastries with a stamped design on top.

Finishing that works in this category

Mooncake boxes are where foil earns its keep, because traditional Chinese motifs carry a lot of fine linework. Gold foil on deep red or deep blue holds high contrast, so thin lines stay legible. Embossing suits background patterns and logos, adding depth without adding colour.

Timing to allow for

This is seasonal work, and orders across the whole market bunch up before the festival. Production runs 10–15 days, but allow time for sampling and revisions on top. We suggest starting the conversation at least one to two months before you need stock in hand.
